Thanks for the post and Banksonian.

Does anyone know why the DVD edition of The Crow Road is Region 2
format??? Is there any way to acquire something I can play on my DVD
player (region 1)...?
I ran up against the same thing with the VHS and PAL. Why wouldn't they
issue them in more than one format to allow for the American and/or rest
of the world market?

Money, of course. But, in fact, most DVD players sold in the USA, and
almost all of those sold eleswhere, have multi-region capability. The
film industry only managed to prevent the sale in the USA of players
with that capability preset, or with instructions as to how to set it.
There are hundreds of websites which give details of how to set it for
the different brands of player, such as
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks.php
