Sorry about the chickenpox.

Number of people in the library varies amazingly. We
had over 300 on the Sunday it stormed, we had almost
90 signed up for a concert but only 30 came. But some
people will go out not matter what the weather. It
was quiet Tuesday, when they announced the building
was closing early but there were still people there in
spite of the fact the it was sleeting outside and
roads were getting slick.

I can't say anything about books as insulation. I've
seen it written about in novels but to the best of my
knowledge no-one has ever proved that books make good
insulators.

Newspaper is certainly good insulation -- ask any tramp -- so I should
think the paper in books would be too.

Insulation from boredom, the real world, yes. Cold? Not sure.

I hope "Hammered" by Elizabeth Bear can do double duty
today. It's a tad nippy and I have to finish my
re-read (about 270 pages) today and write up
tomorrow's discussion questions. It'll be an easy
job, I enjoyed it the first time I read it and the
second time I was breezing along until my son nabbed
my copy because he had misplaced his. I didn't get it
back til last night but I shall prevail.

If anyone has read it and wants to send pearls of
wisdom along....But I think this will be a better
choice than last month's title. We did the 4th book
of a series and there was too much to try and pick up
so no one who had not already read the book and the
entire series enjoyed it.
