They're having problems getting the thing ready for its (many times
slid right) 'combat evaluation' to get a FRP contract in place.
Apparently it is still having a problem meeting its requirement to
operate for an average of at least 5 hours between mission critical
failures due to dozens of problems with the avionics systems.
This evaluation has already been slid numerous times, so if it has to
slide again there is certainly some amount of risk. I'd bet against
an outright cancellation, though.
The Air Force would do just about anything to order more of this
airplane. Maybe they'll swap it to them for giving up on the Boeing
tanker deal!
