I'm just re-reading 'Look to Windward' and I'm wondering where the Airsphere
gravity comes from...

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe
Barbeques on fire by chalets past the headland
I've watched the gift shops glitter in the darkness off Newborough
All this will pass like ice-cream on the beach
Time for tea

Not having read it for a while... Air has mass, therefore you will have
gravity if you're away from the centre of the sphere.

If you tunnelled into the centre of the Earth, you'd find no gravity at the
centre (excepting the gravitational forces of the moon, sun, galaxy, etc),
and it would increase as you go out as the mass inside the sphere you are
on increases.

Well yes, but the gravity seems to pull 'down' towards the 'anus' and
there's no mass down there...
