We had one poodle who absolutely hated some squeaks. He would work
furiously until he had desqueaked it, then played happily with the
toy.

My current poodle LOVES squeaks. They convince you to play with
him, if only to shut up the noise!

We tried to crate train my poodle. He was too traumatized from his
flight to get here. We locked him in, once, with a nice stuffed
animal to keep him company (it was made to be a dog toy). It was a
large teddy bear type animal. We came home to a scene out of the
texas chainsaw murders-- body parts and innards all over.

We stopped trying to crate him.

Very ouch. {odd look} They cleaned it up as best as they could at the
time, but back in the 60's they didn't have the CT scans and MRIs that help
them find stuff these days. When the doctor was preparing to operate again
last year, he saw stuff they'd missed. When he actually got in there, he
found a bunch more stuff that even the scans had missed.

Dad's knee works much better now. However, his back didn't like him
favoring the knee while it got better... {resigned smile}

I know. the knee is a lot better since last year's operation, but it
isn't entirely normal. Dad's back is giving him more trouble now than the
knee. Unfortunately, that's likely to continue. {small smile}

I had a dog who was afraid of squeaks. If a toy squeaked at him, he
backed away and looked distressed.

Kinda funny to see a 70-lb dog with teeth thhhhiiiiiiiisssss big
backing away from a squeaking, plastic chicken leg. (We found another
dog who would like the leg to receive that gift.)

I don't exactly go out of my way to buy squeaky toys, for fear one of
the dogs truly will like squeaking and squeaking and squeaking. :>

{chuckle} He didn't like that noise? {SMILE}

{BIG GRIN} Now this sounds like a dog who understands the importance of
people-training almost as much as a cat does. {REALLY BIG GRIN, wink}
