I have read that the Bandersnatchi allow humans to hunt them, in return
for most of the revenues from hunting license fees, which they use to
buy tools. This is to help control the Bandersnatchi population and
relieve their boredom. The hunting tanks are restricted in the
equipment they can carry, so the Bandersnatchi win 40% of the duels.
Do the humans who hunt Bandersnatchi eat them? Could I buy
Bandersnatchi steaks at a Jinx restaurant?
Do Kzinti ever come to Jinx to hunt Bandersnatchi? >> Stay informed about: Bandersnatchi |

Since the Bandersnatchi are essentially giant Shmoos, yes; it's mentioned here
and there in the books.
>Do Kzinti ever come to Jinx to hunt Bandersnatchi?
Don't remember seeing anything about it one way or another; they might well
do so.

That is not mentioned in any KS book, and it would be somewhat out of
character for Kzinti. Kzinti like to kill prey with their claws or a
knife, up close and personal. Killing a giant worm with an anti-tank
missile is not much of an excitement for them. >> Stay informed about: Bandersnatchi |

Shmoos are more like domesticated animals. Hunting Bandersnatchi
is less like hunting and more like dueling. In real hunts, the number
of casualties is negligible, and the animals are harder to find. >> Stay informed about: Bandersnatchi |

Bandersnatchi do not taste like what you want to eat and you don't
change into o bandersnatch if you eat some. The Thrint did eat them, but
I would suspect that eating them was suspended when they were found to
be sapient. >> Stay informed about: Bandersnatchi |

Hmmm, encouraging kzinti to hunt Bandersnatchi with knives and
claws might be a good way to get to kzinti population control

No, it's stated that they kind of look like Shmoos, being smooth and
white.

And that they were originally bred to be food animals, waaaaay back when.
(It was the tnuctipun who also made them intelligent and got them to spy,
if I remember right.) Plus their skeletons made impressive trophies/building
materials - wasn't it that one hunter guy Beowulf interacted with who had
part of one?

The tanks' equipment is restricted such that the Bandersnatchi win 40%
of the duels. That ought to be exciting enough for a Kzinti! >> Stay informed about: Bandersnatchi |

Yeah, well, nobody EVER said that the Tnuctipun were Nice Guys; they simply
didn't like being enslaved, and had the wherewithal to plot hiddenly to bring
an end, eventually, to their enslavers.
