If you enjoy the history of computers and collect old computer and
electronics magazines, books, or manuals, I am pleased to offer an
early report on an experimental color display unit.

Description:
From the Introduction:
"The purpose of this work was to design and construct a display unit
for evaluation of color in increasing the information-handling rate of
operator-oriented electronic-readout systems.
This unit had to meet several rather difficult requirements to make it
compatible with a wide range of current and future systems. It had to
be capable of fairly fast writing speeds, with comparably fast full
color mixing, to display single-line transient or puse outline type
radar signals on a real-time basis. It had to be compact and portable
enough for one-man handling. It had to be insensitive to orientation
in the earth's magnetic field.... The unit also had to have good color
purity over the entire face of the display screen, with sufficient
intensity for normal viewing and color photography."
The report has several printed photographs, schematics, operating
instructions. There is one full color tipped-in photograph. The
photograph of the actual display unit makes it look more like an old
oscilloscope than what we think of today as a computer display.
Obviously a lot has changed in 45 years where today we can buy
palm-size computers with full color LCD screens, or even little
handheld DVD movie players!
Condition:
The book is square and tight, with some soiling and light
discoloration or foxing to the stiff paper covers. The book appears to
have been gently read, and there is very little wear. Page iii has a
color photograph of the color screen, and the corners of the photo
have been inserted into slits in the page. On the reverse side, small
slips of cellophane tape hold the photograph in place, and this tape
has yellowed and stained the paper. There is no writing, underlining,
or highlighting, and this is not an ex-library book.
All books are securely padded and boxed to protect your purchases,
though often recycled materials will be used. If you prefer, I will be
happy to drop ship your purchase directly to your customer, per your
instructions.
Please make checks or money orders payable to Douglas K. McClure.
I thank you for your business and look forward to your response.
