Why do I get the feeling from reading this that you will have matiocre &
haven fighting the solarian leuge over the slavery issue as the both agree
that is a bad thing?

I came to that conclusion a book or two ago. And I'll bet money that
the Eridani Edict is going to get torn to shreds by the same people that
created it...<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Wouldn't be surprised. Sollies vs Haven/Manticore et al, with the Andermani
nominally friendly to the H/MA and either too scared to take on the league,
or looking to snitch some territory?

Could be interesting...

The SL is on the verge of a civil war. It won't be fighting anyone as a
whole anytime soon.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Here's a rough guesstimate:

All three/four of the major powers (Manticore, Grayson, Haven) dislike
slavery (probably the Andermani. Torch is enthusiastically supported by
Manticore and Haven and is at war with Manpower Inc./Mesa which is
supported by some bureaucrats in the League.

Mesa arranges for some "outrage" to occur, the League bureaucrats send a
few ships to "investigate", find that Torch was engaged in piracy and
send a combined OFS/SLN fleet to stop the "pirates". The OFS decides to
drop a few nukes on Torch, at which point the SLN contingent engages the
OFS.

And then all hell breaks loose.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
