Yes. To put things in perspective, my own outlay to self-publish my
textbook was $9,000. That includes establishing a business, printing
cost for 1000 copies, credit card account, proofreading, web site, etc.
It *doesn't* count cover design (I did it myself, in violation of all
the "rules"). And I did my own typsetting, layout, etc.
On the bright side, I'll only need to sell about 300 copies to break
even. And I'm already a 1/3 of the way there, two months after publication.
