I have read them both. You don't necessarily have to read Angels &
Demons before The DaVinci Code. It has the same main character but can
stand alone very easily. I thought Angels & Demons was a little hard
to swallow, but The DaVinci code made a big impact on me and led me to
investigate and read further into the premise behind the book.
