Well I for one loved the book. Good pacing and tight plotting made it a 2
night page turner. Some of the "twosts" were a little predicatble, but that
may be that they were well telegraphed, such as Leso Varens new identity
and who the Gardener was.

I'm still impressed that after so many books the mythos still has new
apsects for us to discover with regards to the planes and how the pantheons
for all the realms are linked.

Looking forward to the next one, as long as it's published in NZ first Wink

Possible misprint (maybe just for version in New Zealand);
Near the end of the book Servan and Jommy have a discussion about the match
that they had back at the University, but it was Godfrey that Jommy punched
on the nose wasn't it?

I don't think it's predictable as much as, at least for me, being familiar
with Ray's writing. (Also, I'm one of those PITA's that always know what's
going to happen in a movie or TV programme). For me, reading one of Ray's
books is like going home. My family all live in Aussie, I don't live where I
grew up... It seems that the main constant is reading about Midkemia. The
moment I started reading IaDR I felt almost as if I had come home. It's a
hard feeling to describe, I read Magician when it was first published and
have, excepting a few years, always read Ray's work as it was published.
LOL. Sad as it may seem, the times I feel most at home, most excited and
expectant, happiest I guess, is when I'm reading a new book by Mr. Feist.
IaDR was, IMO, the best since Exile's Return, another outstanding book.

You and me both.

Heh! Unlikely. However, at least we're not last to get it.

The version released in NZ is the same (AFAIK) as the one released in
Aussie. It's printed there. I tend to notice things that aren't right in
books I'm reading and the only thing I found wrong with the copy I read was
a mis-spelling of the word "too". It was spelt "to". Page 340, line 23, word
one. Smile

Jommy hit them them both in the nose. Servan was actually punched within
minutes of meeting the boys, Godfrey during a swordsmanship lesson. I think
it was the former incident that Servan was talking about when he thanked
Jommy for not punching him as hard as he could have.

Cheers,

That's the way I read it. I think I also noticed one of two other
mistakes or possible miss reads on my behalf.

I really enjoyed the book immensely (I couldn’t put it down the first
day I had it and read about half of it in one day) and have just
finished it a little over an hour ago.

There was one thing I was a bit disappointed about, it was that no one
figured out who Leso Varen was inhabiting even when it was commented by
the senior Great One that he (the person he was inhabiting) didn’t seem
quite right after the death of his colleague. I though this along with
Pug’s warning would have alerted the Great One’s to his presence. I can
see how his capture of Miranda and the reappearance of Macros is going
to work together but I was still slightly disappointed by Leso Varen
being able to hide himself when he wasn’t exactly being discrete (maybe
this was why he was able to hide himself because he was being the
opposite of what he normally does taking the form of someone and hiding
away where others cant get to him).

I really look forward to the next book and hope that I don’t have to
wait to long for its release (I'm sure I'm not the only one waiting for
its release). Keep up the great work.
