After "The Husband" and "The Good Guy", I thought that DK was headed in the
right direction. But Darkest
Evening slipped backwards. Thankfully, not as far back as the Odd Thomas
Series. I saw it more as a
tribute to Trixie's breed of dog. The first 300 pages just threw alot of
confusing situations at me and I didn't
feel any of the main characters were in danger. The last 50 or so pages
tied up everything, but this was not
something I would recommend

Not going to read the above spoiler. I always avoid them. But I have
to state that I have been a DK fan for many many years, and have not
missed a single book. Got DE for Christmas. And normally DKs books all
grab your attention with the first few pages and hooks you. Well, I
completed part 1, which is about half way. And I have to say, nothing
yet. Maybe his Golden Retriever wrote this one>>LOL LOL. So far I have
never found a book of his that I dislike, But I have to say that up to
this point, ending Part 1, IMO this has got to be his WORST.
Maybe I am just getting used to and enjoying, Steward Woods, books
these days, since DK takes so long to complete one . >> Stay informed about: Darkest Evening |

Woods had also written a whole lot of books, and many with the same
recurring characters. And unfortunately my mind is blank at the
moment.; There is Stone someone or other, an Ex N.Y. Police detective,
who is now an attorney, in practice with this firm that hands him some
case that always gets him in some kind of jam. Then there is Holly
something or other, who is a police Chief down in Florida, who often
gets involved in these cases, or cases of her own in other books. And
Stone has this NY Police buddy, Dino, who is usually in the mess with
him. I have enjoyed every one of his books, every time my Wife brings
me another from the library. I had recently read his latest.
You can Google him and get all the accurate info without brain

Hi Jazz,
I don't know, two books a year seems fairly reasonable to me. Any more than
that and who knows what kinds of strange and stupid endings he might resort
to.
Never heard of Steward Woods. What does he write?

I'll do that. Thanks. I know that brain fade guy. Hangs around here all
the time and is making himself more and more at home.

P.S. Got into Part 2 and is finally picking up, being tied all
together. But I have never read a DK book that made you have to get
that far into the book to hook you. I had almost put it down giving up
on it. >> Stay informed about: Darkest Evening |

Because I love dogs so much (have 7 rescues), I guess that is what kept me
interested for so long.

Even though I loved reading ALL of DKs books, never really experienced
a bad one IMO, this one finally crossed the line. Got good after the
second half. But I almost put it down for boredom, till then. Part 3
almost made up for it. But I would say, unless you get it for a gift,
or free at the library, don't waste your own money on this one. Trixie
obviously does not have the writing skills as her owner . >> Stay informed about: Darkest Evening |

Me too. We have a Jack Russell, the opposite of anything you have ever
heard/read about them. He is so well behaved, mellow, the smartest of
all three dogs that we have had. At the beginning of our marriage in
1972 our 1st a German Sheppard (My baby face>LOL). The next in the
early 80s, an Akita Mix (Spot>LOL), one hard headed dog. And now
Buster. Got him when he was 3 yrs. 4mo, being told he was 1 1/2. But
found out differently at his Vets. But he was free, pure bred, not
that that matters, just a fact. Now we have had him 5 yrs., making him
8, and he is just our BabyBoy, getting treated like a King (No not
Rodney King>>LOL LOL )). He sleeps between us, snuggled under the
covers )He is kept clean and pest free<Frontline Plus>). He is so dang
smart, I swear is is not a dog, but a person in a little fur coat.
Heck this one may out live me (I'm 5 . Could be our last dog, or 2nd
to last for sure. No more puppies in my life though. I'm too old now
and not patient enough to go through that again>LOL. >> Stay informed about: Darkest Evening |

He sounds very sweet. They are all as different as people are. I hope he
lives a good long while yet. The last dog we lost was Teddy, in 2005. He
was 16, deaf from old age but still fairly vital. He never heard the car
that hit him. I've often thought about a fence, but our dogs roam free in
the fields and woods and I just can't stand the thought of keeping them
hemmed in. We have one little puppy, about 5 mos old that gets to come
indoors at night only because I worry about the coyotes and because she is
my first true puppy in many years. She was a snap to house train. Smart
little thing. >> Stay informed about: Darkest Evening |

not me either.
I have one dog. that's enough!
Weather has been so hot we've had to hose his chest down several times a
day. Apparently hosing the chest down on staffies keeps them from
overheating.
odd.
