In which book is Death missing, where after having had a conversation
with Death, people's memories of him fog over? Is that in Reaper Man?

At first, I thought you meant which book does not have DEATH in it
(actually I can't remember that one), then twigged.

Right, in RM DEATH is retired and the cover blurb has the words - DEATH
is missing, presumed... missing.

In Soul Music, DEATH seems to have a bit of a breakdown following the
death of this daughter and son in law/ex-apprentice and goes AWOL,
sucking Susan into his role as the Grim Reaper.

So in which book does DEATH go missing?

RM and SM, but for different reasons.

Also inspirational for the second major Discworld game, but that's
something I never did have in my collection. (One day I'll pick a copy
up, I'm sure.)

I'd be tempted to argue against that interpretation (at least the direct
causation), but I'd need to re-read to be sure of my impressions so I'll
let it pass for now. Wink

It's good playin'. But don't expect to be able figure out most of the
puzzles without an FAQ. Logic has nothing to do with these solutions;
they seem to be dependent on you knowing the answers before you start.

Well he's anthropomorphic personification. ( i bet i spell that wrong)
He takes on the characteristics of humans & we're flawed so he is as well.

You could be conflating Death and Princess Keli in _Mort_ . In that
book, Death goes missing and his apprentice messes up the duty when
Princess Keli is supposed to die, leaving her alive. However, because
she was supposed to have died, people forget that she's still alive,
even when she is talking to them.

Cheers,
Nigel.

I think that Zeefor's reference is more related to how Death, in His
interactions with humans /generally/[1] finds that they
ignore/reinterpret[2] the reality, but afterwards they tend to think of
him as "tall, very thin" without being able to expand on it.

And this happens regardless of whether Death is 'off-Duty' or not,
though of course he gets more interaction with the not immediately
terminal when wandering around outside the scope of his usual work.

But I think it's the Death Is Missing bit (now answered by all and
sundry, now with all the relevant episodes mentioned) that's the key
part to the question. Wink

[1] Except with the likes of young children who know that he's a
'skelington', and obviously the magically inclined.

[2] c.f. the thoughts that he's an undertaker for Mort's father. A
fairly natural mental escape-route for the mind under the circumstances.
