I am used to passing entries by giving a debit effect and a
corresponding credit effect to accounts. While using Quickbooks is
there any way in which I come to know which account is debited and
which accounts is credited?
Ex- While preparing an invoice can I see an entry which says:
Customer Account (Dr)
To Sales Account (Cr) >> Stay informed about: Debit and credit effect of each entry |

Not while you are creating the invoice. For a saved invoice, pull it up and
hit the journal button. >> Stay informed about: Debit and credit effect of each entry |

In my Quickbooks 2008 Premier, with the saved invoice open, it is on the
toolbar for the Create Invoices window, betweeen the History and Letters
buttons.

You may be onto something. Certainly shows up on the Accountant's Edition.
The Accountant's Version has every feature available in the other premier
versions plus it has depreciation and financial statement modules, and
costs the same. There is no reason to buy any other version.

Hey Karl
I knew how to get the journal, my point was that not everyone has the same
buttons on their version of QuickBooks. I always try to assume the lowest
common denominator when answering, but thanks anyway

The journal button is only on QB Premier Accountant edition. If you
want to see the journal entry behind a transaction (invoice, check,
whatever), simply select the transaction and hit control + Y to see
the debits and credits of the JE. You can also create a journal
report (under accountant reports).
