The author of the 1980 "Companion to Narnia," Paul F. Ford, said one
scene or speech in one of the books comes heavily from a certain
chapter in Deuteronomy. Now I can't remember the entry where he said
that. Does anyone know? Thanks.
Lenona.
P.S. He also talks a good deal about the humor in four of the books,
though there's nothing about LWW or PC in that entry - no surprise.
(Roald Dahl had his 1988 character Matilda say that while she liked
the books, there was no humor anywhere in them. What she/he meant, of
course, is that kids today demand belly laughs, not just humor, and
Lewis just didn't do that. I wonder why Ford couldn't recognize that?
