Nothing to do with us, it was like that when we found it, nobody saw

That _is_ Tashkent. Have you asked the Uzbek Navy?

Really doesn't matter, since they never go into the pub. If they were to
do so, it would cause no end of trouble. We pass buckets of TS out into
the yard, and what they do with it after that is their business.

We have a perfectly good pub in the barracks, thank you very much.

Well, that's okay then. If you have a barracks pub, why does Beetle
pass you buckets of TS? To refill the Barracks pub's supplies?

They deny having anything to do with moving it and would like to know how
they are going to get it back unaided - I suggested that someone in the
Village with a few million friends might be able to help without
incriminating themselves collectively...

Are you sure that's an actual Tashkent? Faux-Tashkent are very _in_ this
year, at least according to the Earwig Design Department.

Well, if you were tendering for a removal contract, that might be
another matter...

's'right. And we pay through the spiracles for it, too.
Sometimes when Melody is very busy elsewhere and there's a big
celebration we're allowed into the Lundy's yard, but we don't go inside
at all ever. Not that we mind being Excluded, you understand, even as
the country's biggest minority population...

Yes, earwig topiary is indeed a fine art, and very hard to master
indeed. A saiga isn't an easy creature to mimic, and I hear the horns
can be a right bugger to do properly. I myself know nothing of it,
unfortunately, as it has not been previously required. I think that you
could do with a talented director, earwig or otherwise, to co-ordinate
your efforts. Anyone in the village with knowledge of earwig topiary,
please step forward now...

First Camouflage Detachment, for'ard Harch!
Now all you need to do is explain why there's a saiga in your courtyard.
A rather lop-sided and mangy-looking saiga.
With earwig-shaped bits falling off.
Back to the drawing board, lads...

I think you may find that the earwigs prefer to deal with these things for
themselves without interference. And I think that you probably ought not
to take it upon yourself to try to organise people in the village: we have
got along quite nicely for a number of years without anybody telling us to
volunteer for things.

Well, he can't *remember* that because he wasn't here, but *I* can! That
was hard work!
And since the Mad Scientist seems to have either moved away or blown
himself up, I might have a bit of trouble doing anything about a similar
fatality these days. His input was essential to the process -- that and
the loan of his large alembic. Though I suppose Nikola could provide the
necessary electrical impulses if it were really essential.

Pah! This so-called "animal magnetism" is simply a passing fad; steam is
clearly the true Vital Force of living creatures.
