There was no need. Even the beavers said at the beginning that not many
went into the Witch's castle and came back out alive. They knew about
the statues.

And granted, this one was in the movie, not the book. But the kids
arrive at the badger's home and find all the stone figures. And the fox
explains that this is what happens to the enemies of the witch. So,
clearly, the animals knew what caused it. Anybody could have told the
kids.

The issue remains. How do you fight somebody with that power? You just
have to keep trying.

Edmund certainly found a way! He simply broke the witch's wand!

Did any of the animals know HOW the witch stoned folks?

after his rescue!

After Peter and Edmund receive word of Aslan's death, Peter says that he
can't lead Aslan's army. Edmund says "Aslan believed you could. So do
I". I believe that during the famous unheard Edmund Aslan talk after
his rescue, Aslan expressed the opinion that Peter could successfully
command his army! That talk was the only time I remember seeing the two
of them conversing, so would have been the only time Aslan could have
expressed his opinion about Peter's leadership abilities to Edmund.

When Edmund is coronated, Aslan calls him "Edmund The Just", an
adjective which would not be immediately apparent. I therefore believe
that Edmund must have expressed a deep interest in justice while talking
to Aslan after his resuce.

I'll admit that I haven't seen the movie. However, isn't it more likely
that the writers, by incorporating that title, were attempting (however
clumsily) to incorporate one of Lewis' original ideas from the book,
rather than that they hid something minor from the audience? After all,
if Aslan is somewhat the same character in the book as in the movie,
then there is much that He knows but does not ordinarily say.
