I have what is truly a strange question.
My hard drive crashed last week, and I've lost around 6 months of work
- including messages from abth, all my email, etc.
So, in an effort to catch up, now that I have my newsreader installed
on my new system, I downloaded all the messages from abth.
There are only two that I can see from last October.
The messages start in September.
So - what happened in October? Or is it just me?
On another note (pun intended) - countdown to England is 9 days... We
fly over on the 4th of February to attend Sixteen Tones.
Will I get to meet many abthites there?
Cheers

I shall be there for at least for a bit of the time, now that I have
discovered by purest chance which town it is actually in.

Seconded. This has happened to me, twice, plus I work in IT, and I
*still* need to get a regular backup regime going...

Conrunners are good at that. I was guest liaison once, and had the
following conversation with Neil Gaiman:
NG: "Thanks for the invitation. I'd love to attend. What date is it?"

Oh. Did I mention that I work for an IT company, used to provide
technical support, and am married to a programmer? So you'd think WE
would know about backp, right? Only trouble is, we're typically the
ones with most to backup up,and no method sorted out yet of doing it

It's an interesting point. I'm an IT journalist and am forever telling
readers to back up. One of these days I'll get caught out not having done
so and then will I feel a fool...

(and drink, and take the drugs from their own dispensary, yes.)
The cobbler's children always run barefoot.
(One of the oldest proverbial sayings I know. The oldest is from the Norse
or something, and translates as "Tongue seeks sore tooth". Sorry, Paul...)
Speaking of which: Guy, you don't seem to have any residence in the
Village, and we already have a Newshound. Would you fancy running a Shoe
Repair Shop and Cobblers Emporium in the Shambles, to augment your income
from doing Investigative Articles for the local freebie broadsheet, which
by its nature isn't a very reliable source of cash?
Any pun you may see in the name of the shop was not intended until after I
had written the sentence and noticed the missing apostrophe, ok? I
promise.

OK. Then I shall ask Isambard Kingdom Earwig to add this information to
the Map.
I think the 'Cobblers Emporium' is next door to the Cheese Shop, somehow.

Come on, it's only been a month or two. They'll wait for you to have
to sell a kidney first, _then_ pay you.

Um. Sorry about that. It only occurred to me after I posted <g>.
What's even worse is the fact that I've taken a geek test online. (So
did my husband, and my coworkers.) My coworkers came out as "posers".
I came out as a Major Geek, and my husband as a Super Geek. FWIW, only
one other individual on my floor at work got the same score that I
did. And I would have sworn he would have scored higher
But we can talk about lots of non-geeky stuff! Like, um, cats, and um,
science fiction, and um, uh.....oh yes! The Squire!
