Not my favorite set of covers, but seeing them in all their glory is
good and some are actually pretty neat. Consider Phlebas (and to a
lesser extent Look To Windward) are nice as they show the Orbital. I
also like the State Of The Art (1st edition) cover, as it seems to quite
accurately reflect the rather decadent lifestyle on board a Culture
starship!

Thanks for the heads-up, both on these pictures and on the existence of
a.b.p.fantasty-sci-fi which I hadn't come across before!

Banks on TV - There was a quick clip of Mr Banks on the 'Alright On The Night Stars Special' tonight. Does this mean that IMB's hit the big time? -- "I said it was an upgrade. I didn't say it was better."

Banks in America! - Over in America for the summer and couldn't help but notice that Banks is almost non-existent in bookshops here. Had hoped to introduce some sci-fi fanatics to his writings but most of his books seem to be out of print here. What's the deal with that?

Banks new SF title? - Banksy is releasing a new SF noevel, title unknown, on 30th July 2004. Anybody know any more?

Banks is 'subversive' - Just chatting to a friend in Missouri in the US and have been trying to get them to read some IB or IMB Now they eventually found 'The Wasp Factory' in the local library, in the 'closed' racks, which generally means (so I am told) you have to ask for it...
