Just spotted in alt.os.linux.slackware

From: "Robert Rankin" <tuppe666 DeleteThis @hotmail.com>
Subject: rc.d/ new* files
Date: 03 January 2004 03:43

I am new to configuring the scripts that come with slackware
and have to
use netconfig to set up my network card everytime I want to
use samba,
while in mt rc.d directory I noticed I had these

rc.6.new
rc.M.new
rc.S.new
rc.alsa.new
rc.inet1.new
rc.inet2.new

I've been using swaret to upgrade my packages so they could
have come from
there. new does not mean they were always new, is it safe
just to make the
others *.old and move these into there place.

I doubt it's him....he'd know the correct "there" to use in that last
sentence is "their" Smile

Apart from which, I seem to remember him saying he's a complete technophobe
at one point.

I'm sure you're right. It's just the two things that
attracted my interest. The 'tuppe666' username and the fact
he's running Slackware.

Indeed.... RR freely admits to not having the foggiest idea when it comes
to computers.

Can only assume that due to (a) Rankin being a fairly common Scottish
surname and (b) Robert being an even more common Scottish first name that
is more than one Robert Rankin out there.

In fact, <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.yournotme.com/" target="_blank">http://www.yournotme.com/</a> tells us that 182 people share that
name in the UK. I for one feel better knowing that....<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
