| It will never happen because it would be way to expensive. You would need
Bill Gates to bankroll it. Then they would put it on about 9 on Fridays
when their demographics are out at the bars and parties.

How do you figure? Other sci-fi tv shows have come around and done
rather well (for example, Babylon 5) No reason this show couldn't as
well. They'd have to change a few things for TV though, such as
compressing distances (Yaknow, where 50,000KMs looks like a couple miles
on screen) >> Stay informed about: Honor Harrington TV series |

Bugger that. Let's choose the actress who'll take the role of Honor
Harrington. Who would you pick?
Personally, I'd pick a young woman who wouldn't mind being typecast
for the next decade, if they're going to do one season per book.
Cheers,
Alex.

SF TV is no longer in fashion. B5 was over and done with 7 years ago,
and all recent efforts to create something new in the same Universe have
fallen fairly quickly - the more recent they've been the sooner they've
failed (most recently before even a pilot was produced). Look how even
Star Trek, the most successful franchise ever, failed to sustain it's most
recent spin-off. The 90s was the decade of modern SF. This is the decade
of cop dramas. I don't see any decent SF getting off the ground any time
soon.
TV couldn't do the Honor writings justice anyway. All the nuances that
come across in the written word would largely get lost, ruined by (as
you say) visual distance compression and other things. It'd all become
technobabble of the moment, as it invariably does in the Trekniverse.

For appearances sake, Lucy Liu, or better still the woman from Martial
Law - Sammo's niece or whatever relation she's supposed to be.

Too old! One major feature ist the extremly youthful appearence of all
3rd-generation prolong characters.
Full-CGI will rule!

Um?
Lets list the recent SF/F shows shall we -
Alias, Lost, Dead Like Me, Veronica Mars, Joan of Arcadia, Stargate SG1,
Farscape, Stargate Atlantis, Battlestar Galactica, Numb3rs, Point
Pleasant, Andromeda, Carnivale... And thats just the output of North
America!
Taking into account imports we get a slew of fantastic Japanese produce.
(They know how to produce animated SF. Catch 'Full Metal Alchemist' if
you can!)
And of course, the return of Dr.Who from the BBC.
SF TV is no longer in fashion? You gota be kidding me.

Kelly Hu. Most recently seen in TV's "The Librarian: Quest for the
Spear" as Serpent Brotherhood Member, in "X2" as Yuriko
Oyama/Deathstrike, in "Cradle 2 the Grave" as Sona, and in "The
Scorpion King" as Cassandra. Another movie, "The Underclassman", is
due this year.

Read somewhere that CSI had won some sci-fi awards too. Apparantly not
all the stuff they use to solve crimes has exactly been invented yet.
Now, an anime of Honor Harrington would be freaking sweet, and it'd fix
a lot of the problems with age of the actors, especially since Honor
ages at a much different speed than some of her peers. Characters that
she meets on Grayson in Honor of the Queen when they were in their late
20's and early 30s are going grey by the 9th or 10th books, while she is
still apparantly in her mid 20's. >> Stay informed about: Honor Harrington TV series |

Hmmmm I'm not so sure... she'd be excellent (if she can handle the part
acting-wise), you can almost see HH in this pic
http://www.alex-in-wonderland.com/GirlsWithGuns/Pictures/H/Text/KellyHu.html
Imagine if that was her antique .45? (I must admit I don't see HH in those
shorts either!)
I'm not disagreeing with this selection, as she's the closest I've seen so
far, just not "it". Perhaps someone will see an unknown in some likely place
and say Aha!
