Actually, there are still a number of science fiction and fantasy
stories of Asimov's that have never appeared in any collection. Two of
them, "The Portable Star" and "A Woman's Heart", were written in the
fifties, and Asimov was so unhappy with them he deliberately omitted
them from any future collections, and anyone that respects Asimov would
certainly avoid reviving them. Some stories, such as "Strike!" and "The
Ten-Second Election", (both of which appeared in Omni magazine), were
short-shorts that were either skipped or overlooked when Martin H.
Greenberg put together _Gold_. And there are a handful of others, some
of them for young readers, that have never even been published. All
told, there are about 25 uncollected stories.
But they are a mixed bunch, and there aren't enough of them to make up
an entire collection. I think the chances are slim that any of them will
ever see the light of day. However, if sales of _The Return of the Black
Widowers_ should happen to do very well, perhaps it would convince
publishers that they can still bank on the name of Isaac Asimov, and
anything could happen.
