It's NOT "The Brave Dragon" by Margo Fallis - or any of her others, I
suspect.
Ichabod is a friendly dragon who helps pull a stuck train, puts out a
fire, digs a drain to stop a flood, and provides a barbecue. His two
child friends are Jay and Janie(?). The story is told in rhyme and the
pages include moving holograms - I remember one that shows a whirlpool
in action. This is almost certainly from before 1976.
One rhyme I remember was something like this (about the train):
"Oh Ichabod, please give them a push!" Janie cried,
"They're already late, and my Daddy's inside!"
"Aw, pushing's for elephants," Ichabod said,
"And since I'm a dragon, I'll DRAG them instead."
