Sadly the Church on the corner of Bath St/Pitt St, formerly known as
The Shack and Follies is no more. A recent fire proved to much for the
listed building and subsequently it has been demolished.

At least the Griffin pub is still there!

  I don't believe that the church in the book actually existed: it
  was described as being on St Vincent Street, I think.

You could be right Iain, though the similarities and history are very
similar to the Folly in the book.
