I picked up this rather entertaining children's book in local thrift
shop for $1
Harvey, Baldwin S. (n.d., c. 1925) "The Magic Dragon" London: Nelson &
Sons
It tells of a boy taken to a fairy tale world by a dragon who likes to
recite his awful poetry (something like Pooh's poetry, but much
worse). There's the usual lovely maidens (one named Euphrosyne or
Phrossy for short), a very laid back semi-retired magician, a self
important prince and a lovely young woman trapped in the body of a
kingfisher (a type of bird) until she can catch a prince in the form
of a fish in a nearby river. Quite well done and entertaining for the
genre, and with a number of bad puns and the like
the book has a Sunday school prize inscription dated Christmas 1925.
It has a colour frontispiece and 6 B&W inner illustrations by Harry
Rountree

A Google search for the title (with the word 'Puff' excluded) yields
only a couple of bookdealer listings.
A Google search for the author finds that he seemingly also wrote:
SHEKELS and SHACKLES (A pre-War Sketch) Cecil Palmer, London. 1929.
Would any of you know exactly when "The Magic Dragon" was published,
or who the author was, when, where he lived, died?
Any info would be appreciated.
