Hi all,
I'm fairly new here and fairly new as an SK fan. In the last 20 years, I've
been drawn to a few SK books, but generally a rabid fan, although my wife
is. I am now starting to go through her collection of books and catch up.
I've read all the DK books, Firestarter, Cujo, Dead Zone (probably my
favorite), The Stand, Green Mile and a few others. I have a list of all the
books I can remember reading on my website listed in my sig.
Just finished reading this. Good read! I give it **** out of five stars.
I have some questions about it though.
S

I

S

Questions:
1. Who was the green man that Ralph and Lois had to trust. I assume it was
someone seperate than C, L or A.
2. Who was the kid that Ralph had to save. I thought from A having a Jake
possession that it would be Jake, but we were told later the kids name was
Patrick? Is Patrick's story told in another book (that I haven't read yet)?
3. I assume that Ralph was a gunslinger with his references to Roland and
to the first two fingers on his right hand. Was he another incarnation of
Roland? With the fingers similarity it seemed more than just another
gunslinger but another actual version of Roland, alternative reality type.
4. From reading other posts I get the impression that King just likes to
reuse names and that I shouldn't assume a link just because of the same
name. I assume that Ed Deepneau and Aaron Deepneau are not related?
5. What category do King fans give C, L & A. I assume they were not
Lowmen. Are these type creatures mentioned in any other SK books?
Comments:
1. Ralph facing down the Crimson King bears well for the gunslingers future
battles with him. If old Ralph can take him, surely Roland and gang
shouldn't be intimidated by him.
Thanks,

It's been a while since I sat with Insomnia in my lap, but I'll shoot a
couple of these.

No one really seems to know. So far, just some anonymous "good guy."
Perhaps he will make an appearance in one of the two final DT books, so
we can know who he is.

Again, another person who may appear.

I don't remember Ralph missing fingers. However, that may have escaped
me because I didn't read the DT series until *after* my last reading of
Insomnia. That said, perhaps Ralph is a sort of "Twinner" for Roland, or
something. (Have you read The Talisman? If not, you may not get that.)

Sorry should have said not generally a rapid fan and DT books, not DK.

Ralph wasn't missing any fingers. I think that Endy was referring to
the fact that Ralph wrapped his last two fingers into his palm to make
a gun of his hand (with the index and middle fingers as the barrel of
the gun). I never considered this a link with Roland, though, becuase
when I was a kid and played cops n robbers, we did the same thing to
simulate guns.

Ah, okay. I was pretty sure he wasn't, but I didn't want to make myself
sound too sure, because he just finished the book, and I haven't read it
for a couple years .

Yep, I did that too. And my kid does it. Some things are timeless as
hell, aren't they?
Have a great day!

He wasn't missing the fingers but almost lost them to a catfish in his
youth. The first two fingers on his right hand. My reading plan is Hearts
in Atlantis, then Talisman then Black House next.

I was beginning to think I was the only person who really liked this one. At
the time it was King's best book since It, IMO.
