I'm trying to hunt down a short story I read that involved a human-alien
encounter in a bar. The alien told the human (who had the sniffles) that his
race tried to eradicate the humanity by introducing a virus (the common
cold) into Earth's environment.

Does anyone know the title and author of this story?

Thanks

I believe you should ask this question in the Harry Turtledove area.
IIRC it was a Turtledove story.

Paul Howard was correct in stating that this is a Harry Turtledove
short story: "Nasty, Brutish, and...", found in the April 1989
issue of Analog SF and in the collection _Departures_. BTW, it
takes place in the same universe as _Earthgrip_.
