I'd missed that. Presumably, Xorn would be expected to have any "power"
associated with a star.

That could make sense. We do know he couldn't have gone too far off the
wall. That sort of news would have reached Xavier.

Magneto did. The Omega Gang did. Emma Frost said she did. My point
was that Magneto couldn't have been on it at that moment because, while
using, it makes the person insane. >> Stay informed about: Former X-Men Reader. Magneto?!? AOA??!? |

Okay, so he went on a rampage looking for a "cure" to save someone
(mutants, in this case). Once he had the cure, he would have become
something better, a person who didn't have to go around using terrorist
actions to further his goals. Could be. Did anyone who analyzed this
stuff come up with the same opinion? >> Stay informed about: Former X-Men Reader. Magneto?!? AOA??!? |

But we don't know why it made them insane. Was Sublime actively
seeking that goal, or was it an unavoidable byproduct of mutants
being infected by Sublime? Nor do we know if Sublime could affect
the rate or extent, such as slowing Magneto's downward spiral until
the time was right.
We don't even know that Magneto wasn't already insane, but either
twisted or bent on a different track for the duration of his run as
Xorn. He doesn't visibly flip out until he returns to his identity
as Magneto, but some would say his whole master plan as Xorn was
itself insane, starting with his willingness to sacrifice Genosha
just to fake his death. (Magneto apparently wasn't truly invalid
at the time, and thus could have fought the Sentinels and possibly
have saved many mutant lives.) >> Stay informed about: Former X-Men Reader. Magneto?!? AOA??!? |

Thinking about part of my reply to another of your posts, Magneto
could already be a bit insane by this point. He could be pretty
delusional about how he saw himself.
Heck, Xorn could be based on how he saw himself (or what he wanted
to be). Maybe that's why he didn't act like a raving loon as Xorn,
because the insanity manifested in him "becoming" Xorn. >> Stay informed about: Former X-Men Reader. Magneto?!? AOA??!? |

It's difficult to tell. Magneto says stuff about how the star for a
brain was "too obvious", suggesting Magneto was laughing about it the
whole time. Then again, maybe he became so invested in the Xorn persona
that it was a part of him - maybe it had to be that way in order to be
successful. Then, once he removed the helmet, Magneto was back. None
of this helps us on the Kick debate. >> Stay informed about: Former X-Men Reader. Magneto?!? AOA??!? |

Didn't Magneto come to rely on Polaris for boosts as well - clear signs of a
developing problem.

I don't know. I only know about the Cortez stuff through either a)
OHOTMU type entries or b) rac*. >> Stay informed about: Former X-Men Reader. Magneto?!? AOA??!? |

IIRC it was in the second Magneto mini-series - Magneto: Dark Seduction.
