We don't know...just that she's very powerful...some think she's
Phoenix/Jean reborn but it's all been rather ambiguous so far.

By all appearances it is: Fix anything.

I wouldn't doubt it. In one fell swoop, it cured Rogue of Strain-88
and kicked billions of minds out of hers.

It's Pheonix, if you look at the series thats where it's going. I mean
the kid slowly got red hair, and then Xmen 207 confirmed it.

X-Men 207 only confirmed the looks. The phoenix force itself resides in
the Stepford Cuckoos.

Remember when Skids was giving that book (the one that usually has blank
pages) to Magneto and told him he was still a mutant? What was that
supposed to mean?

It didn't confirm anything...it was ambiguous at best...there are
things about it that could be said to be hints that she is Phoenix but
each of those things could just as easily be explained away any number
of ways...for instance, shall we count the number of redheads in the
Marvel Universe? Jean isn't even the only one from the x-titles.

Yes, but the locket was used to illustrate Scott's feelings of
loss...Jean's death aside, the memories it triggered were more about
Cable than Jean...the way I saw it was the locket remined him of all
the tragedy he and his family have been thrugh and that he had the
opportunity to spare the baby that pain...Scott had become
increasingly cold and calculating over the course of the storyline and
they needed a moment of humanity to pull him back from that (hence,
the picture of Jean)...and, frankly, the baby looks as much like
Wolfsbane or Siryn as she does Jean.

The locket made me think it might be Rachel for some reason,
particularly with Rachel's ties to Cable's timeline. Besides, why
would new baby Jean have Jean's locket?

Yeah, it is kind of a mess at the moment, but that is probably
the point. The baby was presented in a way that would raise
questions so that people would buy the follow-up books for the next
few years until Marvel finally reveals an answer, which might have
as much as a 50/50 chance of coming out of left field anyway, just
to be "surprising".

I thought Rachel, too, but she doesn't make much sense. We already
have a Rachel. The only way it could work at all is if Jean was
somehow pregnant when she died and managed to return just to give
birth.

I actually hope this is an entirely new character. I'm guessing that
she'll eventually grow up offscreen - in the future - and return as
hero.

The baby didn't have Jean's locket...Scott was wearing it and the baby
grabbed it when he picked her up.

Would that really be any stranger than Cable being born from Jean's
evil clone who also died and came back a couple times?

I hope this is the case as well...and, in the mean time, we can have
some hillarious "Three Men and a Baby"-style moments with Cable and
the baby...and, of course, that rascally Bishop constantly trying to
kill her.
