Last night I somehow managed to slice into the tip of my index finger
with the edge of the mirror in the bathroom. {wince}

It isn't really serious, but it did bleed, so I have a bandage on it now.

Writing with a pencil is an interesting challenge now. It doesn't seem to
interfere with typing as much, but I'm noticing a little pain if I type with
the tip of that finger too much. I'm trying to type with a different part of
the finger, but it's a little clumsy. Computer mouse use is almost normal,
at least. {Smile}

So if posts and replies are sparse and short for a while, that's my
excuse. {Smile}

Ouch!

At least you know how it happened. I sliced the tip of my middle finger
a couple of weeks ago, and I have no idea how it happened. I was on my
way out the door, and tried to check something on my laptop on the way
out. (The trackpad doesn't work if your finger is pouring blood all over
it.) The sharpest thing I had used in the previous five minutes was a
butter knife to spread some mayo on a sandwich!

By the time you get used to typing a different way, your finger will be
better.

No excuses allowed after you've been gone that long! Smile

True. I knew what did it. I hope and believe it wasn't the rusty part of
the mirror's frame {smile}

Knowing it was the mirror meant we could tape the edges. (Well, Dad
thought of taping the mirror, I suggested doing it this morning, and Mom
actually did tape most of it.) Hopefully that will protect me from doing
this again. {wince, rueful smile}

{WINCE} I hope your finger got better quickly! {sympathetic smile}

Oh, I hope my finger is better sooner than that! I have to stretch that
finger out a bit, so I keep hitting extra keys... I think this will take a
while. {Smile}

I'm trying my best, but this is tricky. {chuckle, Smile, wink}

Butter knives can be sharp enough to cut... though, I admit,
you have to get your finger going at exactly the wrong angle
to do it. Forcefully. Mayo spreading doesn't sound forceful.

Best I can offer up to join the Injured Finger Gang is that,
on the year's first rosebush pruning, one of the ungrateful
bushes stabbed me just under the nail of my index finger. I
quite agree with you, Anne, darn inconvenient spot to get cut!

(On the upside, I have roses now. :> And aphids. :< )

No, it doesn't. It would have to be very enthusiastic mayo spreading.

Yes, exactly. That's the part of the finger that hurts particularly...

Ouchouchouchouch! You have my sympathy. Hopefully it's a real clean
cut, though, and will heal quickly.

I somehow end up with paper cuts on the tips of my fingers - and not
from paper, but rather from the chea^H^H^H^inexpensive file folders we
have at the office.

Yes, it was quite painful at first. Now it's not too bad when it has the
right band-aid on it. {Smile}

Thanks! {SMILE} I expected it to look worse last night when I changed the
band-aid. It's reached the point where it doesn't hurt as long as I have the
right sort of band-aid on it. I hope this means' it's healing quickly.

Ouch! I wish they'd get better folders than those. {wry look} I strongly
suspect the employees could do their jobs better if they weren't nursing
papercuts and/or trying to avoid getting papercuts all the time. {wry but
sympathetic smile}

I cut my finger in a totally new (to me, at least) way a couple of weeks
back.
I cut it with the edge of aluminum foil that I was wrapping some food with.
Hurt just like a paper cut. Owie!

"Owie!" Is right! I don't think of aluminum foil as sharp... but I
suspect it's at least as sharp as paper. {wry but sympathetic smile}

I'm afraid the mirror got me a little deeper than the average sheet of
paper can. However, I think it's healing fairly nicely. {Smile, cross

See, that is just the reason I began with a blog. Re-telling the same
story ("yes, I got a spaghetti under my right thumb's nail" "yes, it
does hurt, even after the surgeon cleaned things" "yes I took
painkiller, whaddayathink??? I am not a masochist!!") via the keyboard
proved to be not only annoying but painful, so...

Wish you well, fingers are always painful places to get hurt...

Good point. {smile}

Slightly different copies of this were posted on my LiveJournal, and
mailed to the informal mailing list I have of family and friends who's
prefer email. I've rarely been SO glad of computers' ability to copy things
easily so I didn't have to re-type! {BIG SMILE, REALLY BIG GRIN}

Thanks. It's not too bad with the right sort of band-aid. {cross

best. {Smile}

Owie indeed!

Just don't ever catch a fingertip in a car door.....especially when the
door slams shut hard enough
to break the tip of the bone _and_ take off most of the
nail.................you really, really don't want to
find out how much that hurts. (You have no idea how many nerve endings
are there until you don't
have that nice nail protecting them!)

How the... I didn't think aluminum foil had enough
structural integrity to do that. Not the slice-y bit on the
box, but the foil itself?

Oh, now I'll be worried next time I play with foil.
