O.K.I just read the book. Haven't seen the movie yet.
Was the police in the conspiracy to take over America with the drug D?
Was the main character actually a "Spy" working on a different wavelength
than
what he was on when "normal"? I found the scene when he was fast forwarding
his videotape of himself while engaging in drug speech very interesting.
His
subconscience seemed to reconnect with his continued speech on the tape that
he remembered having. The question is what can of life is his "alter ego"
living
at the expense of his "normal" life. Maybe he WAS a dangerous opperative
of
a foreign power and himself didn't even know it -- sounds like something out
of Orwell's 1984. Scary stuff if you read between the lines. Remember when
he was confronted with the evidence of espionage, he seemed to verify that
indeed it was his voice he heard. Minutes later he becomes incoherant and
dropped off at a rehabilition clinic -- Neutralized.
Also one of the masked hidden handlers in the safe house where he watched
the videos made an off mark comment about how "ugly" the target was on the
videotape. Was that FBI informatant girl one of the handlers in that room?
What was up with that girls face changing in reality and on the video tape
at
the same time?
It seem in the book that everyone is colored in shades of grey; there are
not
clear-cut definitions of good and bad in the personal characters in the
book.
