Sad news

Good idea. Thank you.

Marion ran the shop in which I took refuge from a nasty afternoon, and
thereby introduced me to a person who in turn caused me to go to a science
fiction convention... and all that followed, including my being in the
Village at all.

She also caused my doing the things that meant I met the Miller. And
Omega. And...

I think perhaps she realy *was* that ambition of Neil Gaiman's: she was an
agent of serendipity. There must be thousands of lives she touched, and
altered just a little for the good.

RIP, Marion -- or rather, do have fun making the one remark to a seraphim
that leads to a complete revamping of the whole system in Heaven, entirely
without your needing to do anything more about it!

Sympathetic thoughts and prayers for all. But
remember you have a wonderful story to tell, which
will preserve Marion's memory in the best possible
way. It's always amusing to tell people that your
children would not exist if it were not for science
fiction. I met my much better half at the Washington
Science Fiction Assoc. over 30 years ago.

And piggybacking on to say that a dear friend of mine passed away
today. I've only known her for two years, but they were good years.
And she always smiled when she saw me, which counts for a great deal.

Oh, dear, it looks like 08 may not be as friendly as
we thought it would be. Hugs and sympathy to
Elizabeth, and requests for prayers for a former
co-worker, Charlotte, whose husband died suddenly.
They were a happy and contented pair so it seems
especially nasty that he got taken almost without
warning. I was on the phone with my Mom earlier today
and she passed on the latest news from the area where
I grew up, yet another member of the parent's
generation has died. Like she says, the longer she
lives the more she realizes that she knows more people
in the graveyard than she does in the village she's
lived in all her life.

Anyone have some good news to share??

The Ralsky spam gang got indicted: mail fraud, wire fraud, money laundering,
pump 'n' dump, breaching the CAN-SPAM act, and other stuff.

That's *GOOD* news.

The MI5 nutcase is either back on his meds, has been sectioned (preferably
horizontally through the neck), or has simply been kicked off Altopia again.

I didn't know the lady , but it is obvious by the previous post that she was
well thought of, so my sympathies (for what they are worth) go to her family
and anyone else who did know her.

Well, I nearly have enough vouchers (gained by doing online surveys) for a
new iPod - I know, not world shatteringly good news, but good for me. And I
should be getting a new bike soon. And I was taunted by a squirrel, which
was rummaging around between the various dumped Asda trolleys in the lane at
the end of my road.
