I found this story very interesting. As much as I enjoyed the contrast
between the two Kiras on TV and Nana Visitor`s entertaining portrayal of
Mirror Kira, I always had trouble to take her seriously. This definitely
changed in book form and "Saturn`s Children" is no exception. I like it.
Not only does it make MU Kira more three dimensional, it also makes this
character more realistic.

MU Kira is not one of the characters that are likeable and you care
about what happens to them but on the other hand, a good series also
needs well written villains, worthy adversaries that are interesting and
provide a challenge for the good guys. Therefore I first of all
approached that part of the story with curiosity, wondering how this
Kira will actually regain her power.

MU Kira certainly showed why this woman is so dangerous, a mix of
determination and ruthlessness combined with her skills as a master
manipulator. That she was working with Kurn made this story more
interesting to me, keeping in mind Kurn`s fate in "our" universe.

The other part of the story dealing with the resistance dealt with
another story that needed to be told. In order for the rebellion to
work, morally and practically, O`Brien`s side had to win and once and
for all prove that his way is the correct way, not the way Bashir and
Zek chose. But it was close. If Bashir and Zek would have been just a
bit more sensible and O`Brien a little less lucky, things would have
been so differently. I am more than willing to look past that, sometimes
it is just nice to just welcome it that the good side won and keep in
mind that Star Trek is, in essence, about something positive.

I like it that the O`Briens are together in the MU as well and a close,
strong couple. I also liked it to meet so many other familiar names in
the resistance and that this story gave us some background. I welcome
this even more because I have learned that we will get more stories in
the MU universe. I am so very much looking forward to it!
