Young X-Men #3 - "LifeDeath" (Writer: Mark Guggenheim, Artist:
Yanick Paquette, Inker: Ray Snyder and Kris
Justice, Colorist: Rob Schwager)
While Tattoo reveals a surprising new loyalty, the rest of the
team tackles Magma.
I'm conflicted about the issue. Or rather, I want to like it
more. There's some nice things in the issue, a bit of combat,
a bit of humor, but there's just too much that's... off, about
the characters they're supposed to be and the situation they're
in, and the situation as it stands with respect to the other
X-Books, and the world of mutants in general post Decimation.
I realize that some of this is deliberate, but the problem is
there's so much of it I'm not sure how much is deliberate and
will be explained, and how much is just wrong, and inexcusably
so. Maybe all of it can be explained, but the fact is, I'm
running low on patience, and the willingness to give the X-books
a chance to give me a pleasant surprise. Mostly, I'm just not
enjoying the mystery, I'm annoyed by it. I want to get to the
point and figure out what kind of book this is going to be, so
I can finally decide whether I'm going to keep buying it or not.
I'll stick with it a while longer, of course, but so far I'm
not feeling it as a whole.

Well, that's it for this week folks. Next week, according to the

See you next time...
