Hi,
Does anyone know what happened to Wrath of a Mad God? I was expecting it
to be posted out from Amazon late last week/early this week but got an
email on Sunday telling me it had been put back until March 2008.
Is this to bring the UK publication dates into line with US publications or
is it a general delay in the book?
Thanks,
Craig. >> Stay informed about: Wrath of a Dark God |

It's on me. About a month into the beginning of writing the book, I had
some serious family issues which were compounded by a sudden and
unexpected vision problem that made it impossible for me to work more
than an hour or two a day, for about a month and a half. The
combination of the two proved too much for me to make the deadline last
March, so the book was pushed back in the UK to match the US release.
It was unfortunate, but unavoidable. I've crashed a few deadlines in
the past, but this is the first one in 27 years I've completely missed.
Best, R.E.F.

I have heard rumours that there is a website out there which has lots of
information on what's going on and other stuff.... I think its called
crydee.com
Just looked.... sites still there......after a quick search..... in the
news there is an article
Tue Jun 19th, 2007
Wrath of a Mad God Delay
Oh and Crydee had the publication information on Wrath of a Mad God
before Amazon way back in May <G>

Some time ago Ray posted on this newsgroup that there is a general delay. >> Stay informed about: Wrath of a Dark God |

You intimated soomething similar when I asked a few months ago if Wrath was
on schedule.
After all the pleasure that you've bought me Ray, I do hope that
everything's resolved satisfactorily. I (like to) think I have a bit of good
Karma in the bank, you're welcome to whatever you need of it.
Kind Regards,

Thank you for the reply. Ah well, a few months more to wait then.
Have you ever considered taking an extended break from writing to give
yourself a mental refresh? Not saying you need it or anything, just
interested

I may squeeze out a vacation for a few weeks in the spring. I'm buying
a new house and will finish moving maybe in late March, early April.
The first book in my new contract will also have been handed in by then,
so the girlfriend and myself may be jetting off for someplace tropical.
As far as an extended break, say take a year off or something like that,
won't happen at least for five or six years. Writers never retire; we
just drop dead. Bob Silverberg retired twice and got bored and thought
of something to write and came back. So, even if I "take a year off"
somewhere along the way I'll probably start thinking of stuff to do and
the next thing you know, I'll be writing.
My personal goal is to get to fifty novels and then consider what to do
next. I'm contracted up to number thirty one. I just turned in twenty
five, so I'm half way there. Figure that'll get me into my 90's.
Best, R.E.F.

I've got the IRS, two kids, an ex-wife, and a 26 year old girlfriend, so
when the hell am I going to be able to afford retirement?

If I wanted a surfeit of single malt, I'd head to New York and camp out
at Kean's Chop House, which (last time I counted) had 230 different
scotches on their list, including some seriously rare Bowmar and
Glenfiddich bottles ('39 Glen, if you don't mind paying $300 a shot).
You have to understand, at my age "roughing it" is a hotel without room
services after 10pm. A camper van is very 1960s from my life's
experience. And as far as getting bored on the beach, I have a 26 year
old girlfriend who makes sure that doesn't happen.

Having lived in New Zealand for the last 30-odd years I can say that it's a
very pleasant place. We have a few locally made blended whiskys but no
surfeit of single malts that I know of. Lampreys either.

I managed to fork out for a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black label a couple
weeks ago (I know it's not a single malt) and that was a treat. Been ages
since I've had a Gold, Green or Blue label. Or even a Glenlivet, my old
favourite "affordable", (the definition of which obviously changes) single
malt.
Sounds like you have a good life Ray, excellent, you deserve it.
Keep taking those little blue pills. (Sorry, couldn't resist)
All the best,
