Hello,
I recently started playing my favourite cRPG "Return to Krondor" for fifth
or sixth time and I'm still enthralled with its story and music. Recently I
found out that soundtrack of this game was also released as a separate CD.
But there are no offers on eBay and no replay from www.voiceofthearts.com
staff. So there is my question: could anyone help me with finding this CD?
Or in .mp3 files perhaps? Music files in a game are in very low quality.

Odd. You can call Chuck Mitchell direct, I guess. VotA has a toll free
number. It's 1-888-audio45 (283-4645). I don't know if they still
have any of the CD's. I got mine about the time the game was published.

Is it still playable nowadays? I played that game what... 13 years
ago or so? I loved it then, but don't think I can stand seeing it

I replayed it year or two ago, and it was fun - still a very good gameplay,
though the graphics look a bit blocky. But getting it run might be
challenging - I had hard time getting the sound work. >> Stay informed about: [crosspost] Return to Krondor soundtrack |

Wasn't 'Betrayal at Krondor' released as a freebie a few years ago?
That worked fine on Windows.

Not a "freebe," per se, as Sierra still owns the copyrights, but it's
"abandonware," and you can download it free on several sites. One of
the subscription sites (forget which) offers a version that's tweaked so
you can run it under Windows without a DOS emulator.

Actually, it was officially released for free, by Sierra, at least on a
magazine CD (so that probably means it was free only to buyers of the
magazine). And it's still one of my all-time top 5 favorite games. Maybe
my favorite.

Raymond,
Er, are you the actual author of the Riftwar novels and BAK, or are
you just using his name as a usenet moniker ??

I'm the writer. I have no idea why anyone would want to use my name as
a moniker. If I was going to pretend to be someone else, I'd probably
shoot for Brad Pitt.

Geesh, John, are you everywhere? <g>
Folks, John Bunting, who runs my web site and does a bang-up job, IMHO.
Anyway, no, Brad's busy being on the cover of every new mag in the
States this week, so I've had to get Russel Crowe to fill in which is
why I'm being such a bastard to everyone. Next week I'm being played by
Gilbert Godfried, so expect things to get very strange.

Unison? I'm going to have to look at it. I used to use Thoth, but the
creator got bored and stopped supporting it, and now am using
MT-Newsreader. It's OK, but has a few things about it that annoy me.

I'm stuck in the MS Word world. Mostly because I was an abandoned
WordPerfect guy, which I loved on the Mac, but when WordPerfect decided
not to support OS X, I had to go to Word. Before I'd export WP files to
Word, because HarperCollins is stuck in the MS world on Intel iron like
most big companies. I still hate Word, but I'm more or less used to it.
As 90% of what I do is type, cut & paste, and delete, it's no biggie.
It's the other 10% that makes me nuts when I have to use it, and every
time I cry, "Damn you WordPerfect of Orem Utah!" <g>
Best, R.E.F.
