Hello, and welcome to the group!

If you're looking for a good place to start with the X-Men, you can't go
wrong with the Essential series. Start with Essential X-Men Vol. 1 - it's
the beginning of the second team of X-Men in the 1970s, which featured
Wolverine, Colossus, Storm and your favourite Nightcrawler. They're a cheap
way to get the best X-men material. The only drawback is that they are in
black & white.

Here's a link so you'll know exactly what to look for:

http://www.amazon.com/Essential-X-Men-Vol-Chris-Claremont/dp/0785102566

Of the current titles, Uncanny X-Men is the core book - it's the book whose
lead the others follow. X-Men: Legacy is currently running a big arc about
Professor X, exploring the history of the X-Men, which might be a bit
daunting for a newcomer. Then there's Astonishing X-Men, which is being
billed as the accessible title - the one you can read that's pretty much
free of continuity with the others. Unfortunately, the books are in a bit
of a transitional phase at the moment, so I don't know where Nightcrawler
will end up as a regular. My gut instinct, though, is that it will be
Uncanny.

Anyway, hope all of this rambling has helped you and not confused you! Feel
free to fire out any questions that you have.

Ok, nice to see a new face here then! You might also want to check out the
forums at www.comixfan.com, which is a much more lively place than this one.
Still, there's no replacement for reading the actual stories, and Essential
X-Men Volume 1 is a great place to start.
