They have "Lord of the Fantastic" at the used book store, and I've been
considering buying it, but I'm really not sure I want to read other people's
imitations of Zelazny's style. I have a couple of Hendrix tribute albums,
but rarely listen to them, as no one can play Hendrix as well as the
original (ok, Stevie Ray Vaughan can pull off a Hendrix cover pretty well,
and so can Warren Haynes, but even Eric Clapton suffers badly in
comparison).

Is there someone who has opinions on the collection? Is there a standout
story or two?

The standout story for me is Silverberg's, in which he writes an
entertaining tale that sort of combines aspects of This Immortal with
Isle of the Dead and other apects of Zelazny's tendency to write about
all-powerful immortal characters who have some flaw.

Most of the stories are worth reading. I think that the book is worth
it alone for the short essays that each author wrote about how they met
Zelazny, or what Zelazny meant to them. The Hausman piece is not a
story but an interesting essay on how the two of them interacted and
came to write the novel Wilderness.

I don't remember any of the specific stories at this point, but I really
enjoyed the compilation. I wouldn't so much say the writers tried to write
like Zelazny so much as the stories had similar themes to what Zelazny might
have addressed.
I completely recommend this book.
