I was a terrible driver. Put me behind the controls of a plane and with my
luck, I'd end up crashing in the middle of a kindergarten rally.

In America Airline Pilots made 110,000 in the late 90's, so I'm not sure how
much now. If that' comparable in Australia, maybe he'll become a pilot.
Side benefits, if he works for Delta, he can take naps and get drunk on the
job! Wink

I love the feel of a light aircraft in gusty weather. The way you get
buffetted around is especially thrilling. Although I've only ever been up
once in a light plane I'd never forget the experience. No wonder
Arthur was so excited! To actually get to handle the controls as well
(and at HIS age too!) must have been the icing on the cake.

Well, if he's going to go for his pilots' licence, he's got a huge amount
of studying to do! It aught to serve as an incentive. Good luck to him.

Cheers,
Pete.

A little late now and no opportunities around here anyway. At the time, I
was working at Opalocka Airport, just north of Miami, at a place with a
flight school, rental planes, hanger space rental flight clubs, etc. It was
a fun job.

Guess what! Another opportunity for "flight familiarisation" for
Arthur this weekend. This time it's a 2 day activity and because it's
CIA (cadet initiated activity), NO COST TO US!!!!
